"I came by,

cossetted with

weather beaten

gravestones,

tilting in surrender

to their own demise"

I am in awe of your wordsmithing! Lovely!

Fifty years is a lifetime, yet love seems to keep its own measure of time. Beautiful ❤️

You’re right, love does keep its own measure of time, that’s a beautiful way of putting it, thank you Aaliya. ❤️❤️

This is an extraordinary poem. ❤️

Thank you for reading, sometimes it's easier to express emotion this way than try and explain it 🙏💕

Poetry is an excellent medium for expressing emotion. It's a masterful poem. That's a lot to carry for 50 years. And your brother. There is a painful story here. :(

Thank you for your care, his anniversary falls in June too, so it can be a complicated month, as anniversaries are for anyone who has lost a loved one 🙏

I watched an interesting video on YouTube by Andre Rabe recently. He explained that the positioning of graveyards in churches was a radical move with Christianity. Until then, loved ones had been buried at the edge of cities. But with Christ came the promise that 'death had lost it's sting'. Therfore our loved ones were buried close by to be part of the ongoing witness of our lives ❤️🙏.

That's so interesting, thanks Suzanne, the early years of the Christian faith were different in many ways. ❤️🙏

These words are so beautiful, Kate. They brought tears to my eyes. I believe our loved ones stay close to us even after they leave. Their presence is always comforting, and the memories we hold of them never fade. 💕💕🌻

So moving, thank you for sharing this intimate visit to the graves of your mother and brother. I lost my partner a year and a half ago and I also keep vigil for the beautiful ways he still shows up in my life. 🙏🏼
